Am I Volunteer?

Volunteering is the perfect vehicle to discover something you are really good at and develop a new skill. As Mahatma Gandhi said,

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

It is never too late to learn new skills and no reason why you should stop adding to your knowledge just because you are in employment or have finished education. Planning and implementing a major fundraising event can develop goal setting, planning and budgeting skills. Volunteering is a brilliant way to get life experience. Whether you build a library or mail flyers to raise awareness for a local charity, you will experience the real world through hands-on work. This guide section has established that volunteers can do almost anything and with the new millennium has dawned an era of infinite volunteer opportunities. In fact, volunteering can be a great way to develop skills, learn more about career options, make friends, garner new professional contacts, get exercise, spend time outdoors/with animals/with kids, or even just shake up your routine.

UzTEA staff and organizers are always welcome new volunteers, who are always ready to help and full of energy. As a charity we are always looking for volunteers and trustees who can support our aims to link, develop and support English Language Teaching professionals in Uzbekistan.

If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, here are some questions you might want to ask yourself first:

Can I offer what is needed?

-Do I have reliable internet access?

-Am I free to attend two or three face-to-face or conference call meetings per month?

-Can I actively contribute to UzTEA policy?

-Can I promote UzTEA and recruit new members?

-Can I help organize local events?

-Which special skills can I offer that would be of value? Experience in publishing, running conferences, fundraising, and organizing local groups are always important.

Note: Volunteering may also require travel and accommodation. UzTEA can reimburse these costs, within our current limits.

As we know, the volunteer’s work is free of salary, however it has a lot of benefits being a volunteer. No age, gender and nationality limits! All interested people can apply!

The main benefits of becoming UzTEA volunteers are;

-to gain a lot of practice;

-to build new friends’ network and professional career;

-to expand your horizons;

-to feel the English atmosphere;

-to take part in many different international/national projects/conferences;

-to get acquainted with foreign professional experts;

-to spent your valuable time rightly and effectively;
